H. Leslie Adams Trombone Quartet

This is my first overdub project - a trombone quartet by H. Leslie Adams. Working with the American Composers Alliance, I made a webpage featuring the music of black composers. I found this trombone quartet while making the list. I really wanted to make a sample recording to help promote the piece, so I recorded all the parts and edited them together using Audacity. I plan to finish the quartet in the coming months.

Bolter: Meditative Longing

Here is a piece I played recently in the Toledo Museum of Art. It features wawa mute, circular breathing, digeridu techniques and multiphonics. It's soft and contemplative, so it's best with headphones or good speakers.

Svoboda: Concert Etude Nr 2, Wawa

This is one of five in a set of concert etudes for solo trombone by Mike Svoboda. Each features different techniques for trombone. This one features the wawa mute as well as multiphonics (singing while playing).

Bass Trombone Recital 18Jun2016

Here is a recording of my first full-length professional solo recital. There were a lot of kids attending, and it was fun to come up with ways to help them enjoy it too. Here is the program:
And here are the videos. It made a new video after an hour, so the
second video is the second half of the encore.

Here are the pictures from the drawing competition.
They had to draw how the music made them feel.

The girl who drew the first picture said that when the piano started, it made her mind clear. The boy who drew the second picture said that the music made him feel happy and sad at the same time.

Devil's Waltz

Kevin Dombrowski and I have played this piece many times this past month, and will play it many more next month. "Devil's Waltz" by Steven Verhelst was written for two bass trombones, but the top part works well on tenor too. Here we play it with Kevin on tenor trombone and myself on bass trombone.

Here are a couple pictures from when we played this piece as an encore for an orchestra concert with Symphony S.O.N.G. Probably the first time a trombone duet was played as an encore to Beethoven Symphony No. 9!

Burhans Phantasie for Trombone and Piano

This is a great piece for Trombone and Piano by Caleb Burhans written in 2011.  This is from the Yale trombone studio recital we did earlier this month.
